  that living with doubt is a luxury\, another in which he speaks with Franc
 is Collins\, head of the US genome project\, who won't admit his belief in 
 the Bible is preposterous by any scientific or empirical standard. But ther
 e are many good moments\, never slow\, overall I recommend it.  Of course i
 t needs following up with something a bit more positive about what we can b
 elieve in... \n\nFor December\, I thought we could have fun talking about t
 he meaning of life from a naturalistic perspective. Imagine some one accost
 s you\, the naturalist\, and like the song asks "What's it all about\, Alfi

 ic and progressive naturalism that can make a difference in our lives.  To

   \n\nEssentially\, naturalism shows our full connection to the world and o
 thers\, leads to an ethics of compassion\, and gives us far greater control
  over our circumstances.  We don't need anything supernatural either above 
 us or inside us to lead moral and meaningful lives: nature is enough.  Natu
 ralism is a viable alternative to faith-based worldviews such as traditiona
 l religions and new age philosophies\, offering a set of ideas with positiv
 e personal and social consequences.      \n\nThe meetings offer a chance to
  meet fellow naturalists in an informal\, relaxed setting\, but with at lea
 st some structure.  That's to say that we'll try to have one or two topics 
 suggested in advance for people to think about\, and then discuss when we g
 et together.  Ultimately the focus and format of the meetings will be deter
 mined by participants\, but will certainly include time for socializing and
  networking.  Watch the discussion board for topic announcements and other
