DESCRIPTION:Allies of Naturalism\n\nHi gang\,  \n\nThanks to those who show
 ed up for a good discussion about the meaning of life from a naturalistic p
 erspective. I'll be reserving the usual table for January but won't be able
  to make the meeting myself. \n\nPossible topic: how can naturalism save th
 e world?  That's to say\, are there key insights coming from naturalism (wh
 ich are perhaps ignored or de-emphasized by non-naturalistic worldviews) th
 at can inform our response to the rather daunting problems facing us\, such
  as global ideological conflict\, climate change\, the financial crisis\, r
 ising unemployment\, and economic inequality?  Think big!  \n\nTom\n\ntwc

 alism welcomes those interested in exploring and promoting a science-based\
 , humanistic and progressive naturalism that can make a difference in our l

 .htm.       \n\nEssentially\, naturalism shows our full connection to the w
 orld and others\, leads to an ethics of compassion\, and gives us far great
 er control over our circumstances.  We don't need anything supernatural eit
 her above us or inside us to lead moral and meaningful lives: nature is eno
 ugh.  Naturalism is a viable alternative to faith-based worldviews such as 
 traditional religions and new age philosophies\, offering a set of ideas wi
 th positive personal and social consequences.      \n\nThe meetings offer a
  chance to meet fellow naturalists in an informal\, relaxed setting\, but w
 ith at least some structure.  That's to say that we'll try to have one or t
 wo topics suggested in advance for people to think about\, and then discuss
  when we get together.  Ultimately the focus and format of the meetings wil
 l be determined by participants\, but will certainly include time for socia
